This privacy policy explains what information FHI, Financial History Institute ("FHI") collects when you visit this website, and how it is used.
What we collect
When you sign up, we ask for your first name, last name and email address. Company is optional. We also record your consent, the list you request (newsletter or courses), and where you signed up. There are no user accounts.
- Analytics. If enabled, we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookie-less service that measures aggregate traffic only. It does not identify individual visitors.
- Email. We use the details you consent to provide to send the FHI newsletter and requested course notifications. If you email us, we use your address and message to respond.
Processors and signup status
Our hosting processor is Supabase, through Lovable Cloud. Our planned email processor is Brevo. The email subscription service is not yet connected, so signups cannot currently be completed. Processor agreements, transfer arrangements and safeguards will be reviewed before email sending begins.
Retention and your browser
We retain subscription details while you remain subscribed, then delete data no longer needed, subject to applicable legal obligations. We may retain a minimal record of an unsubscribe request to avoid contacting you again. Exact retention arrangements will be finalised before launch.
We do not use tracking cookies. Local storage in your browser remembers when a signup prompt was shown for 14 days, and remembers a successful signup so we do not prompt you again. You can clear this storage through your browser settings.
Language preferences and translation
English is the default language. If you choose another language, your browser stores your selection and translated public text. Translation uses Lovable AI and sends public page text to the translation service. We do not send the names, email addresses or other values you enter in forms for translation. Translated text is also cached by FHI to avoid repeat requests. Machine translations may contain errors; the English source remains authoritative. You can return to English at any time or show the original article text.
What we never do
- We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.
- We do not run advertising trackers or build profiles of visitors.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and Swiss data protection law, where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion or a portable copy of your personal data, and object to or ask us to restrict its use. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing, and raise a concern with the relevant data protection authority.
Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, or email us to unsubscribe or request deletion. Course notifications can also be stopped by emailing us. We will review requests in accordance with the law that applies.
