About the Financial History Institute

Financial history that is rigorous, readable and useful for today's markets.

Why this exists

Markets have a long memory, but most of us do not. People who work in finance rarely have the time or the capacity to dig deep into financial history, even though the past is often the best context for making sense of what is happening now.

When I looked for good material online, I kept finding the same two things. On one side, academic research that is rigorous but hard to translate into anything actionable. On the other, quick content, increasingly written by AI, that is thinly sourced and rarely adds real understanding.

In an age where content is cheap to produce, quality is the scarce thing. The Financial History Institute exists to provide it.

What you will find here

Well-sourced research, presentations and data on financial history, written to be read and used. The aim is simple: take the lessons of the past and connect them to how markets work today. It is built for anyone with a broad, curious interest in finance, and especially for those who want to apply that curiosity to markets.

I am Grégoire Peverelli, Swiss, with a master's degree in Financial History from the London School of Economics. I now work in the financial industry, and I am passionate about macroeconomics and financial markets. I started this platform because the high-quality financial history I was looking for simply was not out there, so I decided to build it, together with a community of people who care about it too.
